Thessaloniki: Symbolic occupation of the journalists’ union headquarters in solidarity with comrade Gustavo Ε. Quiroga González, imprisoned since the eviction of Delta squat (12/9)

On Thursday, October 4th, at 11am, a group of 30 comrades occupied the headquarters of the Journalists’ Union of the Macedonia and Thrace Daily Newspapers (ESIEMTH), in order to send mass emails and faxes and disclose the case of the Colombian comrade Gustavo, who is still held in a prison cell of the bourgeois democracy after the raid on Delta squat. The solidarity assembly for Delta squat, and in particular for Gustavo’s case, released and disseminated a statement that you may read here in English.

The Greek authorities confiscated Gustavo’s valid passport, deeming it as fake. They even suggested that they might validate ‘official copies’ of his documents (which they otherwise consider forged…) if only Gustavo could be deported to Spain, given that he obtains Spanish citizenship. However, the Spanish authorities would obviously accept him with authentic documents (and not plain carbon copies). So, now the comrade is faced with the possibility of deportation to his birth place in Colombia, from where he left more than a decade ago. In other words, Gustavo is threatened with immediate deportation from Greece and is vengefully held captive.

Now is the time to spread the word and carry out solidarity actions.
