Poznan, Poland: Antifascist demonstration

Today [30/6] in Poznan an anti-racist demonstration under the slogan “Cut off the oxygen of the extreme right” took place. Over 150 people marched through the streets of the city center to display their opposition to attempts by neo-fascist groups at establishing a presence in public spaces.

The crowd chanted anti-racist and anti-fascist slogans, informed passers-by about the threat from marginal but violent far-right groups such as ONR Wielkopolska “Patriots” or “autonomous” nationalists. Also the protesters distributed flyers about the boycott of venues “Guesthouse” and “U Honzika” run by Macieja Witzberga and Jana Iżyckiego who are using their premises to sponsor fascist action groups and provide them space for meetings. Maciej Witzberg personally took part in the attack on the DIY Festival on Rozbrat (which we described here in Polish).

The demonstrators also highlighted the hypocrisy of the Autonomous Nationalists, who were demonstrating today, “in tribute to” the heroes of the Poznan June ’56. No wonder that they didn’t appear at the workers’ anniversary celebrations at the Cegielski factory gate. They are interested only in the promotion of their sick views, which are based on the hatred and social exclusion, which is the negation of liberty.

Participants of the demonstration announced that any attempt to spread these ideas and “recipes” for solving social problems will be met with the answer they deserve. In Poznan, as well as any other places there is no space for spreading totalitarian ideologies!
